What to expect
Christian Youth in Action® will equip you to take the Gospel to children, challenge and grow your faith, and will empower you to step out and trust God with confidence wherever He leads you.
If you are looking for a relaxing, fun experience, I’d suggest looking somewhere else. CYIA® training is…intense. The main purpose of CYIA is to train and equip young people to go and share the Gospel with children in their communities through a summer Good News Club, learning how to share their faith by doing ministry with children.
Assistant CYIA Training note
If you are not able to attend the state-wide overnight CYIA training due to age or schedule conflicts, you might consider Assistant CYIA Training which is held locally. Please contact someone from your chapter for information on the Assistant training process.
FAQ's
Teens (13+) & young adults who desire to make a difference in their community and learn how to effectively teach children and lead them to Christ.
If you are under 13, you may be able to serve as an assistant. See assistant note above
CYIA training happens at the beautiful Camp Fairwood near Westfield, WI. The camp offers miles of hiking trails, a swimming hole, an obstacle course, and many other activities that you can take advantage of during free time.
The training is 2 weeks.
You will arrive at Camp Fairwood on Sunday, June 9th and go home Saturday, June 15th. Then for the second week on the 17-21st, you will actually use your training to help lead a summer Good News Club in your local area.
After that you will teach between 2-7 additional weeks of summer Good News Clubs.
There is a $30 non-refundable registration fee.
You’ll have the opportunity to invite family and friends to make an investment in you and other students participating in CYIA this summer.
The local staff and committee works with you and the other students to raise the funds and prayer support needed to cover costs of training, conducting the Summer Good News Club program, wages, and materials. Our CEF policy is “Ask God, Tell His People.” We will help you in raising this support through praying with you, a Bible study on support raising, putting together letters, and potentially sharing at your own church.
Yes! Before the training camp, there will be some local meetings that you are required to attend.
Some chapters also have an end of summer celebration that you and your family should plan to attend.
